Changing overtime pay for some workers?

Changing overtime pay for some workers?

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV)- There could be a new way to pay employees who work for the private sector.  Members of the House have passed a bill to change overtime pay.  The law would give employees the option to either get overtime pay or comp time.

Republican Congressman Robert Pittenger favors the bill and thinks this will empower families to take time off when needed - time that will best fit their schedule.

"You may have young kids at home," Pittenger said. "Or go to a soccer game and you may need to go to the dentist or you have aging parents. This is a good bill for hard working American families. It gives those choices back to the families and employees."

While Pittenger thinks this will help families, some hourly workers are not so sure.

Speedway saddles up Old West theme to promote May Race Weeks; X-Games to zMAX?

CONCORD - "It's a throw-down," exclaimed former All Star race winning crew chief Jeff Hammond.  Hammond was part of the group hosting a small rodeo in the infield of Charlotte Motor Speedway on Thursday.

It was a day of boots, bulls, and belt buckles, and even some horsepower you don't typically find at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

One of this area's biggest economic engines is set to roar over the next two and half weeks with thousands coming in for the All Star Race and Coke 600. New this year, a top prize of two million dollars.

"Two million dollars will go home with that team," said CMS President Marcus Smith.   "That's unmatched, not even close to any other race on the NASCAR circuit."

Sunshine is back, but for how long?

Sunshine is back, but for how long?

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV)- The sunshine is back, but only for a limited time!

For the third straight weekend, rain is in the forecast as an area of low pressure moves in from the west.

Friday will start off sunny, but clouds build in for the afternoon with a few showers possible in the evening.  The major moisture surge moves in Saturday, with showers and thunderstorms making a return along our next cold front.

The rain should taper off early Sunday, followed by much cooler temperatures early next week.

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV)- Perhaps you've put off pregnancy for your career or you've been trying for a baby for a while, and your 40th has come and gone.

Or perhaps you're like Kelly Sapyta who found the right partner later in life.

"I didn't get married until I was 37."

The burning question for you now might be, "is it too late to have a baby?"

"My husband had a vasectomy and we decided to have it reversed and it worked," said Sapyta.

Kelly gave birth to her first baby at 41.

Couple years later came baby number two.

He was an unexpected addition to the family.

"Everyone loves it nobody can believe it," Sapyta added.

"More and more women are having babies later on in life 30's and even 40's and that's a function of a lot of things, said," OBGYN Dr. Jim Bomer with the Rankin Women's Center.

The car will carry a special paint scheme promoting the video game Injustice: Gods Among Us. One of the game's stars was insistent on posing with our own star at his last visit to GameStop's corporate headquarters.

CONCORD, NC (WBTV) -- What a week for Joe Gibbs Racing!  Our own Adrian Parker, the business manager for Matt Kenseth, has the deets on the team's reaction.  And we should point out, always humble Adrian did, sort of, pick the winner for last week's race.  So what's next?  Who looks good for Darlington Adrain?  And we must give a shout out to Richard Petty Motorsports and the #43 car, right AP?
